Good Morning

I am a morning person. My kids, not so much… they tend to grouse and gritch from the moment their brains engage. From my experience this is the norm, the grithcing. I am one of those weird folks who wakes and is wide awake. I never hit my snooze button—assuming I haven’t woken before the alarm. As a matter of fact, I HATE the snooze alarm, mostly because the hubby is a 4 or 5 (or 7 or 8) time snooze hitter (on top of his clock being set about 30 min ahead—and the man is still late leaving for work more often than not...)

Don’t get me started on the kid who is so anti-morning that he often can’t even remember conversations we’ve had before school...

Sometimes I wonder if the wide-awake state is a side effect of my being a little, what’s the name the doc called me...oh yes, Hyper-Type A personality. Sometimes I wonder, because I am a little hard-wired to be slightly (I don’t think it’s as intense as the doc) uptight, that my sleeping is even regulated strictly. I mean, I don’t linger when I wake. I wake, and I am up. I can’t remember the last time I had a late, sleeping-in weekend. Surely it was before my kids were born. Now that I think of it, maybe it’s a mommy side effect more than anything. Dunno...

Anyway the reason pans out, it drive my kids nuts that I am a morning person because as I get them ready for school, I am UBER-chipper. Think high caffeinated chipper—sans the caffeine since I don’t drink coffee any more. Were it not seven in the morn, they might wonder/worry liquor was involved (I guess the time doesn’t necessarily preclude that, but I don’t drink either—yeah, I am soooo very boring!) I will sing, dance and be VERY obnoxious to get them moving in the morning. And it’s a little more motivating if one of them is in a bad mood—then I *really* ratchet it up!

How about you? Are you a morning chipper-nut like me or do you fall in what I think is the norm and it takes you a bit to get up and going? Are you somewhere in between?
