Man am I ever behind
I blogged at Chicas today.

. . . over the past week and a half everyone but the DH has been sick. Some more than others, but all kept me on my toes (especially when I was the one sick. . .)

I will try and do better - promise!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DEAR HEART
Today is my Dh's birthday. My five-year-old asked if he was 60, the twelve-year-old said no, he's 90. Luckily dad had left for work and didn't hear ALL the years added to him. hehe

(he's the non-blue dude)

We have been together since we were 18, and after so many years it is neat to reach these milestone birthdays together we couldn't even image when we were getting married at 20.

Happy b-day love! and to many many more! (pssstttt... he's 35 - WOW!)

Who knew...
…being rejected could sound so nice.

I recently submitted three books to four different houses. One I never heard back from AT ALL so I subbed it elsewhere. One has moved on to the next round of “lemme think about this” and the last was asked to be edited some before they could really consider it.

I edited, they considered, but in the end, they decided to pass, as they weren’t thrilled with how my heroine handled one situation (they like kick-butt heroines and mine are usually just a hair less aggressive) but the letter they sent to reject me was actually quite nice and made me feel pretty good about my writing. How often can you say that???

To say the letter was sweet might be overdoing it a tad, but the editor was quite complimentary about my style/voice. She even said she will probably end up regretting not taking it–that has to be the nicest thing I have heard aside from “We’d like to offer you a contract.”

I will definitly think of them if I can ratchet up my heroines to a little more kick-butt gumption.

Has anyone ever made you feel good getting turned down? (Like I said, this was a first for me!)

I have learned...
Recent events have been a real learning time for me. Here are a few things I can share with you...

*--Carry a spare key and cell phone with you at ALL TIMES!

*--You make ONE mistake and everyone will remind you of it over and over.

*--If you mention something even if it was the kids idea, they will poo-poo it faster than prune juice.

*--Ten year olds know EVERYthing.

*--Little boys are very sensitive about their hair (especially if it is long).

*--Don't talk to the DH on the phone when he and said ten-year-old are arguing over the remote.

*--Every now and again, your DH can surprise you and do the dishes while you sleep (Who knew he still knew how...wonder what he's after).

*--Don't discourage anyone's writing, even if you don't "get it". (What if a non-romance reading/writing person gave you the advice to quit while you're ahead - passion is passion, support it!)

Chica Tuesday
I know I have been lax in keep up blogging. My RWA chapter sponsers a contest every year to raise funds. I am in charge of the Published Author portion. I get to receive, catelogue, find judges for and then mail out ALL the entires=we're talking 4 copies, each of over sixty books. It is quite fun but majorly time consuming. (Let me tell you, trying to find judges who aren't in an area hit heavy by weather and are capable of actually getting the packets is more difficult than you might think-and after the weather report this morning I am afraid at least two judges may not get theirs on time). I finally got all 24 packets of books sent out last week.

ANYHOO-I blogged over at the Chicas today. Come see what it's like to lock you and your four kids out of the house....

I like this pic - what can I say (plus he is the inspiration for one of my characters-YUM)
