BRRRRR....

It is sooooo cold here. It iced yesterday. Schools are closed and right now it is 17 degrees. Did I mention it was COLD!

The kids were so excited when they learned that schools would not open today. Which truthfully all the students live within walking distance so they could go, but the teachers only a couple live around here. I say let the kids in! They can play in the gym or the art room. I doubt they could damage much.

I have seen some of the neighbor kids eyeing the empty house next door's slick driveway. But it is just too cold for my taste and there really is no snow - it's all ice.

*not my pic but you get the point:

It is supposed to snow here tonight but I don't see anything yet. I've been through many an ice-storm when I lived in Kansas and Nebraska. Beautiful. One time my husband was out on manuevers during a Kansas ice-storm. He didn't find it so pretty while freezing his...um...jewels off in a tent.

So, would you just have the kids ice-skate to school??? That would be amusing to watch!

It is soooo very cold still - this morning it was 15 degrees when I took the boys to school.

Alas, we have no ice skates but maybe some tissue boxes and strings and they can slide just as well!

It's been 37 to 39 here in the mornings--for us, that is FREEZING!

But I remember days in Texas when it was 15 degrees. The cold felt like little bites all over. I did not like it, Sam I am.
